I am trying to get my clutch linkage sorted out for my rolling chassis 1960 C1, need help on some parts from the Paragon Catalog.

on page 19 of their catalog, Clutch Pedal & Linkage, part number 636, Clutch return spring to lever link. I don't see where it is used in the diagram on that page. Where and how is that used?

what about part number 633? Clutch Spring Hook? why wouldn't the spring just be put through the hole on the return spring bracket on the frame? How the heck is that used? do I even need it?

Both of these parts are shown in a photo in the upper right of the catalog, but I don't get how they are used.

Anyone shed some light on this?

You need them - the pin anchors the spring at the frame bracket, and the pin and link anchor the other end of the spring to the Z-bar; you'll see them in your Assembly Manual. :)

Hi guys -Im a new member looking for clutch help on 61.
Read the three helpful threads and pics and looks like my clints car has pretty much the right parts- its got 23k on the odo...pretty much original.
My client doesn't like to drive the car, and I don't blame her.

Clutch seems adjusted Ok but has a very over-center action with hard push in middle of travel, then easy to hold down. If this is normal for original clutch in a 61 ?

Is there another clutch, modern, or hydraulic conversion kit available that would "modernize" the action ?

Its a shame its never driven because of an "unfreindly" clutch action.

Anyone ?

That's typical of original C1 clutches - they were 3-finger coil-spring Borg & Beck pressure plates, and the over-center arrangement was supposed to function as a clutch return spring for the first portion of pedal travel, then change to an "assist" spring for the rest of downward pedal travel. Kind of a Rube Goldberg design, but that's the way it was back then.

Good solution is a LuK "RepSet" diaphragm replacement clutch (Paragon has them), remove the "Godzilla spring", and just use a simple return spring from the top lever on the Z-bar back to the firewall, like midyears have. Much lighter pedal effort, no more fighting the big spring or the over-center feel.
