The parking brake equalizer on my car seems to have either been fixed or modified by previous owner. I do not know what it is supposed to look like. On mine, there is the curved piece of channel for that the cable loop from the rear wheels slips into and then a through hole for the threaded rod from the handle to pass through. But then, two Craftsman sockets, one inside the other have been welded together and then to the inside curve that the threaded rod passes through.

I am guessing that this was done to take up slack in the rear cable instead of replacing it, or was this a "fix?"

Also, is the cable from the driver's side rear wheel supposed to rub against the driver's seat pan? It does on mine and trying to figure out what is not right.

Thanks for any and all hints.

Hi Lanny,

It sounds either the rear cable is stretched or there is a problem with parking brake shoes. The cable is very close to the floor but it should not rub.
