Got many requests for photos of the restoration...since I have been on travel a lot, I am having Corvette Specialist of Maryland perform the remainder of the restoration, including dropping back the old/new motor. So here are the photos

First below is the rear end....took out ALL of the suspension and doing it all over piece by piece.... The rear end was cracked and it had 3:70's gears. It was in excellent condition and no new parts needed, just cleaned up and tightened down. Part of the reason, it was a new rear end, housing and all, dated 1971.
Did not have the nasty 63 rear end parts, so it was in great shape. Again removed all the black paint, and left it the natural cast...

Next up is from the back of the car looking foward...trying to remove as much of the black paint from the floor pan area, so since the rear end was out and all the parts removed have taken the paint off the pan...

Next photo shows a lot of the suspension pieces, each piece has been glass beading and will be restored to factory condition...trailing arms were covered with paint and undercoating...a lot of work to get them back, some pieces where acutally CHROMED....so those had special attention given to them... but now all the pieces are looking really good.

Next post I will show ENGINE in car...the new old engine....

Really great to hear from you Collin and good pics! Looks like you're moving along also and it must be nice to be home again (Hopefully you have a "break" for awhile to relax and do what you want). Must feel good getting back into the vette again! Looking good. See you in Aug!:upthumbs

Did you mean Corvette Specialties of Maryland up in Eldersburg?

If so, tell Brian his insurance man says .."Hey." If your car is up there, I can cruise up to get a look?

Dennis,

Yes it's up there in Eldersburg...Brian is good people. Bill is working on it, check it and let me know what you think and the status.

Collin,

my speedo went haywire in LADY, so waiting to talk to Pat on Monday about when he would be able to rebuild - will let you know when I check your ride out

Collin,

I need to remove/restore my rear suspension this winter (that's the last part of my car I haven't touched), so your pictures give me encouragement to begin and they look fantastic!

I can't wait to see pictures of the completed/assembled project.
Doug

Doug,

If you are going to remove the entire rear suspension...now is the time to do the gas tank if needed, especially the straps....makes life easy....on that note, make sure you remove all gas from you tank when working on the rear suspension....keep safe...

Secondly, now is the time to record numbers and crack open that rear end...many times gears etc become loose and time to tighten them up and change grease and fluids...finally, time to replace all the rubber bushings and bumpers etc...they do go bad over time.

Good Luck,
Collin
