Well I finally got the P Brake working so I can park on my driveway - thanks to all those who offered help and suggestions - but now I have a noise to diagnose.

It's coming from the right rear wheel and is wheel speed related (it stops when I do.) It also disappears if I apply the Pbrake while the car is moving, but not when I just brake normally. It's a kind of grinding sound. Is it something in the drum between shoes and the drum itself, and if so will it come out of its own accord or do I need to take the disc off?

Alternatively, is it something more serious, like a wheel bearing?

Any suggestions anyone?

Check the shoes to be sure a spring didn't pop off or if they are rubbing. I had problems when I used a set of SS shoes made by a well known brake supplier. I had to machine both the shoes and the adjuster wheel pin because they were just too wide for the shoes to fit into the hub without rubbing.

I had the same problem on my 80. The right rear parking brake would start to squeal after I drove for a few miles. I had to back it off a few turns and it fixed the problem.
