'04s are fast enough as are other year models but what modifications (keeping prices in mind) would be needed to increase over all performance i.e. (a) exhaust, (b) supercharger) whatever. I don't mean changing rear-ends or stuff like that. I guess I mean you have a stock '04 standard rear-end, automatic, but you have that little voice in your head that no SVT Mustang (450 hp) or other out of family car can challenge and win on that certain occasion. Yes, I know there is always something faster. I mean just a nice clean improvement. Please don't slam me for asking this question. I don't know how to do the work or who to trust to do it anyway just curious.

One more question. That post about Terry Labonte Chevrolet has been posted at least a week but it says "posted today" how does that happen?

Thanks,
wwr

The thread updates the date and time of the latest response to the post.:w

I know you said something about the rear, but if your running an A4 I would guess it has the stock 2.73 gears.

A 3.42 rear would wake the car up real nice, i know it's not cheap, but unless you go with an intake system and headers your not going to pickup that much.

The rear would just spice it up more.

Power is all about moving the most air/fuel mix (and sometimes the most potent mix).

Most of the challenges we get from Mustangs in my area are on high speed roads, so the 2.78 stock rear end is best. The only place you'll se a Mustang when you're doing 175mph is in the rear view mirror. The most bang for the buck is probably a Vararam intake and as much exhaust modification as you can afford - long tube headers, x pipe, hi-flow cats and hi end cat backs - like GHL Bullets. That will get 99.99% of the Mustangs.

NOS would add some insult to your victories. Mustangs like get a 30 or 40 mph advantage passing you and then act like they're winning if you don't immediately pass them back. You're likely to run out of safe running room before most stock 'vettes can catch them

If you want to eat all the Vipers too, get a supercharger (after the exhaust).

The best peformance mod you can make is installing a VaraRam intake system on your vette. I believe it's claim of making 45 more HP. $300 LAPD. Not easy to install, but well worth the money and trouble. You will feel the difference!

There is some discussion on other Corvette forums about the punks and posers in Mustangs making a dangerous high speed flyby in traffic weaving all over the place and if you don't immediately accelerate and pursue them, they count that as a 'kill'... =;-[

I don't mind a race on an open road with no traffic, but those kinds of antics just make me hate kids in Mustangs. That's the problem when a punk can actually afford a 300 hp car for $25,000, new...
