I have been detailing cars for 15 years and I have see the industry change in many ways. Every few years there is a new product that comes out that somewhat shakes up things.

Silicone was one although it is on life-support now. But in its heyday it was great stuff. It got a lot of bad press and nearly everybody was breaking their legs jumping off the band wagon.

Then there was clay bars. Although clay bars actually date back to the 1920's their mass-distribution in the late 80's was on of the greatest things. They are non-abrasive surface preparation bars.

Next was the MicroFiber towels. These towels are amazing! They have been out for close to 5 years now and there are many grades of them, but thier impact on the industry is still being felt.

Now I heard of Perma-Finish. A quick check of their website and I though I had seen something like this before. In fact, a company like this seems to pop-up every few months and you see some guy lighting the car on fire at 2:30 in the morning!

But I just spent 35 mins on the telephone with the guys from Perma-Finish and all my skepticism has been removed. While I have not actually seen their process first hand I can see what they are talking about on a molecular level. If it works as they say it does remains to be seen. However, if I lived in the Atlanta area I'd drop by and check them out.

If you have read my earlier post on this you'll know that I ripped them apart and now I am reversing the course rather dramatically. I was quite impressed because he sounds like a car guy and not a profitier..... although I am sure that he will become one.

He says that you can enhance your gloss with his process by waxing, but the level of protection won't actually increase.

Dude..........A quick question regarding the MicroFiber towels. Would you use them for taking off wax/polish instead of a cotton towel ? Thanks.....Lucky

Most certainly! The are fantastic for removng soluablized residue as well. The construction of the fibers is such that they retain molecules rather than pushing it around the surface.

I am relieved to hear that your impression of this product is positive; I would hate to think that I had wasted over $300! It is too bad you are not closer, because a walk through their business and showroom is quite amazing. Especially the older cars, with one side treated and one side left unchanged.
Thank you for taking the time to follow up on this and talk to the PermaFinish guy (Bob?).

Bob Padovano. He's a wax-head like me! LOL

Normally I don't go for things like this because ( I am know as Captain Skeptical ) most companies put something on the car like a clear coat but something that is prone to acid rain deposition, bird droppings and hard water spotting and can leave the surface looking very much pock-marked. But the way that these guys do it is on a molecular level where they are treating the moleucules rather than a coating. I usually say if it is too good to be true then it probably is, and this might be also, but it doesn't see as though it is.

I plan on taking the trip there to have my car done. Heck it is only a 12 hour drive both ways! Plus I will be doing an interview with them for my website so I can write the trip off.
