Any of you guys have experience with this ignition system?
Any watchouts?
How easy is it to install?
Are the benefits worth the trouble?

Thanks,

Pedro

Heard lots of folks say its the greatest ,I am running a msd system in the car now just waiting on finding the correct parts to put my original TI system back in .

there is a company called TI specialties Alink to there web site
This is who I plan on using for the parts I am missing

I have used Pertronix for years.

The good: Dwell never changes and the points never need changing.

The pain: setting the ring that actuates the unit under the rotor.
Threading 2 wires through a grommet in the bottom of the distributor.

Bonus: I bought the Pertonix coil (cheap) to install with it, and bagged my original (expensive) coil. They recommend that you supply constant 12 volt power to the primary coil contacts, instead of using the other terminal of the ballast resistor. You get a hotter spark, and the ballast resistor becomes an ornament in your engine bay - another component that won't break or need replacing. You can use your GM coil, but I wanted to get a better spark.

Alternative: Crane just started marketing a unit that doesn't use a ring to actuate the spark - it uses the lobes of the distributor cam - and so simplifies installation. It also has a rev limiter (if you have solid lifters this is good) built in, but I don't know what the cost is.

Pertronics also makes a one wire system. I think it is a Pertronics II. Anyone have any experience with this setup?

I put a Pertronix system in my '67 seven years ago and I have loved every day since. The car starts immediately, idles better and there was an immediate noticeable boost in HP with no other changes.

I put a Pertronix module in my 65. It didn't have a ring to install, just triggered off the cam lobes. Two wire install, quick starts and no timing variation. Over 4800 miles later and lovin" it!! Used the Pertronix's coil also.:Steer

The Petronix (1181)

Mine has a ring.. It WILL wire direct to the MSD 6A.. and it looks OK.. I can't wait to put it in this weekend! YAHOO!

I HOPE IT DOESN'T RAIN!
