Well as most of you know I am going along with fully restoring the Engine in the 63. Its been little more interesting then I first thought. Once I pulled engine I found many things that need to be replaced or was outright wrong. Finally got down to the bottom end and thought I would share some photos of what I found. I am keeping a complete photo diary of this whole restro.

Notice the bottom is clean, new piston rods, pistons and crank....this looks pretty good.

The pistons look good, I will clean the carbon deposit, think engine was running very rich, but the carb and heads were really out of whack, put straight edge up and really dont have to deck it....looks like it was done recently. Bored out to 60 over, not going to race it so I thing this old 327 will do fine.

Thought you would like to see underneath. Frame has NOT RUST, but some clown painted the bottom black. I will work on this, mufflers are GONE, putting new SS in, with correct hangers, its actually pretty good underneath. Notice hole drilled under passenger side on cross member, this was for a fuel line....car was raced as drag car, thats my guess.

Hopefully will have engine CLEANED, repainted and back together in couple of weeks, ordered a whole log of new parts..I will post more as I go along...

EBVette,

Let us know how you remove the black paint from the underside. I have the same problem as a previous owner painted my car's underbody white. I've been afraid of using solvents for fear of removing paint from my frame.

I think I will use a certain type of aviation paint remover. You apply it like gel and wipe it off. This way I can control it. Then I will most likely sand to finish (on the bright work metal). I will let you know. If the job becomes to big, I will leave most of it alone and replace parts on part at a time as needed.

Its a labor of love, its a labor of love, its a labor of love........:J
