Hi all

here are some pics from Carlisle.

http://69.240.140.212/page1/page41/page68/page68.html

it was GREAT to finally meet so many of you, put faces to the names, and to see your wonderful cars.
I missed some of you and I'm sorry but hopefully next year those of you that i missed i'll get to meet.
Some of the pics I have captions of who are in them but if i missed anyone or forgot someone I apologize in advance, I was trying to get these pics up as soon as possible.

A very special THANK YOU to Paul (Subfixer) and JohnZ for your help on my fan clutch. Not only thanks for helping me with it, but also a thanks making me do most of the work myself and only jumping in when I needed assistence - doing as much as I can myself is the only way i'll learn. JohnZ, your suggestion to forgot that NAPA POS part and to go over to Paragon and get the correct piece made all the difference, it was a breeze after that.
Also, A big THANKS to Andy and Paul for helping me with my seats!

:) :beer

I'm already waiting for next years show!

PS: Paul, if you won the ZR1 from the tickets I gave you I'm going to kill myself! ;LOL ;LOL

Hi Barry,

Thanks for posting all those great pics!

Looks as though you all had a wonderful time. This site has a lot of nice folks on it and it is always a pleasure to meet some of them in person. See you all there next year

Brian

will be great to meet you next year Brian :)

yep, it was a great time even regardless off the rain. Linda and I are already working on plans for next year and how to improve things :)

Barry and Linda,

It was so nice to finally meet you and all the others. So sorry I could not spend much more time with the CAC gang, but I am sure you know how busy I was showing the 63 for the first time with very steep compitition at the NCCC Concours. Thanks so much for coming by, and I promise to spend much more time with you guys. Your car looked great and the paint was flawless, what a beautiful color and dead on.... again many thanks,,,

Collin and Meg...

Barry, Great pics and plenty of them. Thanks very much. I love every shot.

Probably should have posted this somewhere else but it seems most appropriate for the C2 crowd.

So, having lunch at the round tables just out from under the overhang at the food court, watching the crowd. It suddenly hits us and a number of complete strangers at our table and we all the say the same thing. Didja' ever notice how you can tell which gen car is owned by the way the owners dress? Pretty simple, really. For the sake of simplicity, and since I only have interest in C2s, I'll summarize the comparison of C2 vs. C5/C6 owners. For all you MEs out there, this summary is based on DATA taken from the most recent lunch crowd at last Friday's CaC.

C5/C6 Owners
In general, designer clothes and deep, dark tan courtesy of the Tanning Towels from QVC.
Matching Corvette Twill Jackets with names like "Biff" and "Buffy"
Matching Lands End Polo Shirts and Khaki Pants.
Matching C5 watches with the Ecklers' logo.
Him - what little hair is left is gelled SOLID and frosted.
Her - fake pony tail (came in the same QVC shipment) poking out the back of a C5 baseball cap. The ponytail ALMOST matches the color of the rest of the hair.
Lunch menu - brought their own Cobb salad, Pelligrino sparkling water and fruit compote from Harry and David -> all stashed in a C5 insulated bag.
Him - clean finger nails
Her - acrylic nails painted Ruby Red
Her - matching numbers "C" implants, ready just in time for CaC (just like VNV)..yes, breast implants are numbered.

C2 Owners
In general, the couture is a healthy mix of Walmarts finest and t-shirts that were premiums from last year's re-upping of the VetteVues magazine subscription.
Either no tans or tan lines that go right up to the outlies of a tank top.
Knock-off Ecklers' C5 watches sold by "Mr. Watches" right at the Gate 1 entrance.
Him - no hair.
Her - what little hair is left is gelled SOLID and frosted.
Her - one less tatoo than Him.
Him - fingernails chewed off.
Her - fingernails painted Nassau Blue
Lunch menu - double order of Big Smokies, fries, one large regular Pepsi and one large diet Pepsi (she's on a diet).
Both of them - really decent people to sit down and lunch with. Made me feel right at home.

I understand that consideration is given to moving the C5/C6 section to Hershey which leaves the rest of Carlisle to us common folks. :D

My C5 is driven daily and washed once a week if it needs it, Sorry I missed you.
Craig sr.

I shoot either a Citori or a Beretta O/U, 20 ga. - upland big guns. My what BIG bores you have.

As i told VNV, OK, put the gun DOWN and back away slowly, JUST KIDDING, JUST KIDDING.

Does your t-shirt have "Biff" embroidered on the front? :)

Barry,
Great pics!!!! And Baby is looking outstanding!!!!!!! Can't wait to see it in person. We've got to get to some shows soon!!!!

Chris

funny comparison and in some ways true but knowing a number of C5 owners well it doesn't apply to everyone! :D

Chris, thanks for the kind words about Baby. She's looking "ok" but still needs a LOT of work to get her to where I want her to be. Others may try to be nice and disagree but I was actually very embarrassed about how she was looking at the show this year but hopefully by next years show she will look much better if I can get through my list of winter projects on her.
You should come down to our clubs big show in Oct :beer

Barry - great pics!! Wish I was there. You are right about Paul - great guy. We worked side by side on VNV's trans swap a while back. My wife and I also visited with him last fall. It looks and sounds like you had a good time with all the CAC members.

I am out of commission with a torn up right leg so the progress on my 66 has stopped. Baby is looking good. I am shooting to be at Carlise next year even if only for a day.

Steve

Barry, it was great meeting you. Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet some of the other CAC's that were there, but there's always next year. By the way - I hope you finally got yourself some seats that you indicated were only an option in '65 :L

SMR67 - you aren't by chance the black 67 I see cruising arround on Long Beach Island - Surf City - are you?

Steve

No, not me...but you'll catch me smokin' a lot of Mustangs up in Bergen County :_rock

Hi Steve
sorry you weren't there. would have been nice to see you. sorry about your leg but i'm sure you will be able to get working on the '66 soon enough :beer

SMR, it was great meeting you. Yep, I got my "optioned" seats. ;LOL

for those of you confused, I had taken my seats out Fri. morning and sent them over to Al Knoch to get redone. A number of people asked where my seats are and being the smartass that i am my typical answer was that in 1965 the seats were only options. Since many people were only interested at the time in options to make the car go faster back than, hence no PS, PB, PW, A/C. etc since they added weight and would slow down the car, my car didn't come with seats! ;LOL ;LOL

I got my seats back Sat. morning and Al did a great job on them and they look GREAT. also, they gave me a discount for paying cash so I saved almost $200 off the original quote which makes them look even better yet to me :)
It did feel wierd driving home sitting ON the seats rather than sinking all the way down and feeling every spring though........... :D
