GREAT looking Vette; I love it. Do you any other pictures and information on the headlights you installed. I've be wanting to move the lights on mine for some time now.

Again I have to say it looks great. Nice Jobs!!

Great to see you again this weekend.

The car was really looking great!

I trust your ride home was smooth.

I can't wait to hear what happens with your e/t when you install the carbon fiber shafts and run the light weight rims.

The headlight setup was already on the car when I got it...

Here's a closeup of the setup:

The ride home was perfect... It only took my one tank of gas to get to the event and one tank of gas to get back..
I got 16 mpg on the way to the event and 15 mpg on the way back.. That's not bad for a 500 HP car :D :D..

I just love my 5th overdrive gear on my TKO :D :D

I will have the carbon fiber shafts installed for safety rather than performance.. They might not even give me .05 on the track..

Mods

So, GS, after your poll over at CF, have you decided on whether to remove (my vote) or keep the rear spoiler. Stinky

We talked about it at the Eckler's show. I think he is going to keep it.

Great looking C3, Oliver! Hope to see you at the NCRS meet in Kissimmee again in January.

I'll make that decision in April '04...

Well - I would estimate the chance to be approx. 55% that I'll keep it.. but like I said before.. I'll make my decision in April '04...

Those headlight assemblies certainly resemble the units that John Silva used in the MACOs...........

Any history of that car available prior to you aquiring it?

I actually got most of the history of the car...

The original owner had a body shop in Rhode Island. After he bought the car - he added fender flares and the wing.. Later he converted teh front to a tilt front setup. The car was featured at many expos/shows.. The tilt front was originally operated by a convertible top motor and could be opened and closed just like power windows.. I got rid of that motor because it wasn't working and added lots of weight... The car was re-painted almost annually and actually had flames on it at one point in time.. Later - the owner gave the car to his daughter to drive to college... After she graduated (in the early 80's) she moved away and the car was stored... It needed some TLC etc.. but the guy lost interest in the car... At one point - the original engine (a 427/390 HP) froze up from sitting too long and he put a 327 small block in it... Later, after moving to Connecticut - he traded the car for a driveway.. (to a guy that has a pavement company).
The new owner planned to fix up the car.. but never did..and after owning the car for 10 years (without ever using it) he put it up for sale.. I was the first one to respond to his ad in the Autotrader and bought the car...

I just took a look at a picture of one of John Silva's Maco II replica's and it used a single rather than dual headlight set up, so I must correct my original statement. But I'm sure I've seen that headlight configuration used before, and I still think it was in a Maco.

The setup is a one of a kind setup and not a kit... The headlight were taken from a '76 Caprice... (see pic)

Thanks for identiffying where the headlights came from. I was goin' nuts trying to figure what vehicle I had seen those on. For some reason I was thinking Oldmobile.;shrug I'll see if I can dig up some pictures where that same configuration has been used in Maco style modifications. The original owner that did the "customizing" must had been heavely influenced my Silva's ideas, thus the one piece tilting front clip, fender flares, etc. Regardless, your car is tastefully modified (although I still can't make up my mind about the rear spoiler). However, it's your car, and you shouldn't worry about whether other people do or don't like how you modify it. ;)

If I'll keep the car - I might re-paint it in April or May next year... At that point I'll make the decision to keep or lose the spoiler...
The spoiler is definetely a one of kind.. which would be the main reason to keep it.. I like to have unique things on my car that nobody else has.... The one piece tilt front was built from the original parts.. The hood and head lights (original location) were just integrated into the front end...
