Hello everybody,

I have a small problem with my pitman arm, after rebuilding my steeringbox and powdercoating the pitman arm i lost the allignment on the two. Is there a way to install the pitman arm on the steeringbox from a base setting? Because in the shop manual all that i can find is the "lining up with marks" stuff :( No backup!
Maybe there is a way to install it withe the steeringbox max to the left.. or to the right?
Thanks,

Groeten Peter.

The best way to get back to the straight ahead position is to turn your steering wheel to the right until it stops then back to the left until it stops. Count the number of turns from lock to lock and divide that by two. Turn the steering wheel that number of turns and it should be centered with the wheel emblem facing the right way and level.
Then align the wheels with a long rod(2X4 or similar) touching the rear tire sidewalls and turn the front tires until they are touching the rod along the sidewalls too.
This should center your steering box and your wheels to the point that both are pointed straight ahead.
Then put your pittman arm back on the splines so that it fits to the hole in the steering relay rod.(or pretty close).:)
