I'm in the process of changing my 65 coupe over to power steering with the help of a conversion kit from Zip Product. I've disassembled all the old stuff and am putting the new stuff back on. I didn't notice when I was taking the pitman arm off how far up the spline it went on the steering box. I tightened the nut on the steering box shaft as much as I could and there is still alot of spline showing at the top, as if it should go up more. Does anyone know if it is supposed to go all the way up the shaft or if the spline is supposed to show above the pitman arm. If someone would be nice enough to take a look at thier vette it would be helpful. I'm trying to get this money pit back together so I can enjoy it this spring.
Thanks, Mark:confused

You will generally find that only a thread or two will show beyond the bottom of the pitman arm nut when it's at full torque.
