Popping noise resolved, Bearing Race removal?

Took the '81 out today for about an hour, and on the way back, I'm driving down the road and hear and feel this horrible popping noise from the passenger side. It's not a steady noise but random. I can feel it thru the steering wheel. I'm thinking the front spring's not right. Checked the lugnuts, everything's tight.

Found out what it was. Front right wheel bearing disintegrated. I'm in the middle of replacing both. I got the inner bearing race out using a screwdriver and a hammer, but I'll be damned if the outer race won't budge. Do I need to cut this thing out?

Bearing Removal

I have found that a small brass bar and a hammer works good if you alternate tapping on the race from side to side, also cutting an angle on the end of the bar helps.
