Hello All,
I have seen alot of talk about the POR 15??I take it that its a rust inhibitor but haven't been able to find it anywhere I have looked.I'm in Houston Tx and if anyone knows who carrys it or where I could order some I would be grateful.I'm going to put in some heat barrier and figured I might as well get the POR15 down before I install it.
Thanks,
Tim

Thanks Tom!!
Know I just have to figure out how much of everything I will need!Does it take alot of the cleaner and degreaser ect and several applications to get a good cleaning??
I figure I'll just do the floorboards but if it works that well have a few other projects to use it on(69 Chevelle).
Thanks again for the quick reply!
Tim

Ive only used it once but it seems overrated to me.They are very insistant that you use their preps and cleaners and the paint is very moisture sensitive. If your not dead set on the por15 try eastwoods rust encapsulator. It cleans up easier and its not so tempermental.I use it alot on frames and some suspension parts.

I'm still out of town, but from what I remember, the Texas distributor for our area is in Magnolia, Texas. They always participate in the Chevy and Corvette Show at the George R. Brown Convention Center around this time of year. Call the convention center information line to see if the show is on it's way, unless you already missed it.

I used a quart on the frame of my Vette from the front of the doors towards the rear of the car. I bought another quart to finish from the firewall forward, which I still need to finish. I put on two coats and even coated the outside of my gastank with the first quart, so it does go a long ways. It's great stuff, as I've been disappointed with paints that take abuse including powdercoating. It's a bit more expensive than most, but I've been happy with it.

I've used POR 15 for a few years, and am satisfied with it.
It sprays nice, and brushes nice too.
I've not had any problem by not using their prep products.
I just make sure the item I'm painting it is dirt/grease free.
Pay attention to the UV comments on the POR products. The sun
will indeed turn the finish from gloss to flat! And, we've seen
regular brake fluid eat thru it too.
Again, I've had good results with the stuff, and will continue using it. A quart goes a long way.....I always open a fresh quart and pour it into small pickle jars...then I put each jar in a zip lock
bag, and store in my shop refridge.....(be sure to keep the jar and lid clean or you'll never get it open). I've kept it/stored it this way for over a year, and once set out at room temp, it is ready
to go.

Already missed it, the show was Feb 15/16. I did not see the distributor there this year.

tom...

Did the frame on my wifes 75 with the regular POR. Then covered with the Gloss Top Coat. It looks really good. I had the frame sandblasted first, but I have used it on mu truck without touching the frame except to go over it with a wire brush. I have even used some of the colors, Metal Mask and Silver, Red and Yellow on Calipers, Boosters and other small parts. I do reccomend and it is easier to jus torder it from the WEB SITE. One Quart did the whole 75 frame with some to spare. I also brushed it on in case you were wondering.
