While swapping out the fuel pump on my 85' I neglected to notice which way the strainer goes, it has a long side and a short side. Does it matter which way it goes Long side toward front or back ?

When I changed my pump and sock I just put it back in front to back. Didn't notice if one end was longer than the other. Has been working well for 2 yrs. Good Luck!! Doug
