Hello all,

My wife and I brought home a 58 in March, and are new to the site.

The car is running, but in poking around I notice that it is positively grounded.

Nothing in the literature I have found says that this is a stock configuration.

Thanks in advance for any information!

Most definitely should be negative ground. Chuck

GROUND

I've seen this happen a couple of times, but in each case it was over 35 years ago where a young gfellow took the car to the UK whilest in the armed forces and the well intentioned English mechanic(?) replaced many of the parts to make it "conform" to their way of thinking.
I don't think it really hurts anything, BUT if it has the original wiring in it, I would invest in a complete wiring harness and check the points, plugs and condenser(s) and the starter solenoid completely before firing it up.

Have you traced the wire's to the battery and seen the marking on the battery stating it's positive ground or are you just looking at the color of the wire whitch could be incorrect?

I just cured what I was told an incurable problem in a snowmobiles electrical system because of that excact reason.the colors were incorrect and noby ever checked it.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress
