I originally posted this in the L81 section but didn't get a reply.
Thought I'd post it in this section, to see if anyone here knows:

Last year I replaced the weatherstripping around my T-top and my driver's door window.
Now I am getting a lot of wind noise from the driver's side window.
Also, when I go over a bump (ie. train tracks) my driver's side window make a large cracking noise (sounds like it's going to break).
Do you have any suggestions or advice ??

Thanks,

Sarann,

The cracking sound may be the window glass bumbers at the T-Top edge with the window. They're supposed to be rubber or plastic coated, and overtime, the coating decays and you have fretting. Look for small wear spots on the window top edge to confirm this.

I'd also suggest you check two things: door hinges; and window 'fit' adjustments. On my car both have needed replacement or adjustment. My upper door hinge on the driver side is a little loose, contributing to air coming in around the top of the the driver window, and until I adjusted it, the position of the window was a little 'off' as it fits against the window-top weather stripping (I have a convertible, though, versus T-tops). When you take the door panel off, there's two big screws that hold the motor assembly in, and also determine the positioning of the window as the drive mechanism takes it up & down. Your problem, though, could be just as simple as fixing the window bumpers...

Sarann, I'm about to do the same jopb on my 79. Any advice as to installation, or the best place to purchase the weather stripping??

www.corvette-rubber.com is the cheapest for any weatherstripping, etc, for C3 corvettes. they supply the catalog order companies (midamerica, cc, etc). order from them direct for the best prices.

Weatherstrip

I recently bought a complete weatherstrip kit for an 1974 Coupe thru E-Bay at a much better price than any of the competitors. Check ebaymotors @ http://ebaymotors.com/ and narrow your search with "corvette". Good Luck!

I bought my weatherstripping from GM. I know that there are cheaper options out there though
(we have less options here in Canada - if we don't want to pay duty and stuff)

What about NAFTA? Or did Ottawa manage to keep that a secret from y'all...

page62, I don't know anything about NAFTA but I do know others who get car parts shipped across the border and they always have a hassle with customs and duty.
