Pouch for Flat Tires

I understand that my '96 Grand Sport couple came from the factory with a high-pressure temporary spare and a pouch which is supposed to be used to cover a damaged full-size road tire before putting it into the rear hatch area. Does anyone know where to obtain this part?:confused

spare

My '95 has a high pressure 'donut' under the car in the rear (between the exhaust outlets). The cover that the spare sits on has a slotted brackets with dog-legs in them. When the small donut is in place (as the spare) the cover utilizes the dog-leg of the slots. The regular tire is much wider than the spare and the cover must be dropped down (out of the 'dog-leg') in order for the regular tire to fit while the cover is screwed up into place.
I think your '96 coupe would have the same arrangement.
PS The cover retaining screw (at the very rear) also has a catch position such that when partially loosened the screw may be rotated 1/4 turn and dropped down a little extra, making removing the cover a lot easier and eliminating the need to unscrew the nut so far.

Thanks for the idea. I'll check it out, but I'm not sure it will work for the 315-35 x 17s that the GS Coupe has on the rear. Someone told me that this was the reason for the pouch.

The 315's will not fit in the spare tire carrier as you suspect. They have to be put in the back cargo area so the pouch is the only way to protect the carpet there.

BTW, if you to put the 275/285 in the spare tire carrier, be very, very careful driving over speed bumps as the carrier is much closer to the ground.

I need to get one of those pouches as I'm running 315's on the rear of my 92 now.

I'm going to be stopping by my nearby Checvy dealer soon for a couple of other parts. I'll ask them about the pouches, then I'll share what I find out.
