How hard is it to replace the power booster. My 80 model has pedal problems, the car runs fine , its just when I press on the brake pedal the engine stalls. I have bled the brakes 3 times and replace the master cylinder gasket. It still does not work.Any suggestions would be great.
 
The best is to replace the booster and master cyl in one if you are going they route.
Generally , if you have a booster problem , you will often hear a whoosh sound when braking and you would also have inconsistent braking pedal effort , ie sometimes the pedal will feel harder than other times.
Make quite sure it is your booster giving you grief. It could be the check valve going into the booster.
I asked my v8 supply house for a new booster/Mcyl and they imported a Cardone remanufactured unit for me (they thought i was price conscious) and it took me 4 hours to make it work , apart from fitting , it was a really rubbish part...
I am in South Africa so returning it would have been a mission
 
Check the connection of the vacuum line from the base of the carburetor over to the booster. I'm guessing you have a vacuum leak. Nothing should be "sharing" the line from the carb to the booster.

I just replaced the brake booster and master cylinder on my '76. It is hard to get to. I did this while the speedo and tach are out of the car. It is still very hard to reach the nuts, get a socket on them and have room to torque the wrench. Also, it's very important to attach the pushrod to the brake lever with the clevis and clevis pin correctly. No room for error when it comes to your brake pedal. Good Luck
