My "65" has non-power single reservoir brakes. The cost to upgrade to power dual reservoir master cylinder is very expensive. Has anyone had experience with adapting booster/master cylinder package from a GM passenger car of the 60' or 70's? I would think there would be some commonality.

I have a 1966 with power breaks,my car had a dual circut master cylender off of a 1967.

I found a correct screw on cap style master cylender for my car and plan on putting it on shortley.

from what I can tell you would have to purchase a power break boster that mounts to the brake and clutch assembely lower bolts (in the engine bay area)and then on the top you would have to drill two holes in the cowl area and put nuts on it.(my car has this plate riveted to the cowl area because it came stock with power breaks) then mount the new style master cylender then repipe the brake lines.I would definatley up grade to the daul circut master cylender for SAFTEY Good luck If you need a picture let me know and Ill post a picture of my current set up

The power brake unit looks alot like the old 60s camaro units. If the lower bracket mount holes are the same distance away from the center hole (for the pedal linkage), it may bolt to the pedal mount bolts (as stated above). If not, get out the welder or drill. You can remove the RH fresh air grille and put a piece of steel on the other side of the "firewall to take the upper bracket bolts.

The 67 dual master for PB is about $18 at Autozone, Advance, or Oreilly.

The lines can be split front rear at the brass connecting block. The above 3 auto stores sell chap fittings and made up lines.

Thanks to all for your comments. This past week end at Vette Fest in Chicago I purchased a complete power brake package for $240. It included new dual master cylinder, small diamater boster, proportion valve and lines. A custom bracket picks up the four pedal bolts and supports the assembly. Reported total bolt on. It will be several months before I can report on the performance of the package.
