Power Programmers (Canned Types)

I'm thinking about purchasing one of the canned programmers, ie., Diablo Predator or Hypertech to firm shifts and shift points on my 2008 A6 tranny?

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge using these products and, do they work as advertised or are they marketing hype?!
