Hi i'm new to this and stumped: i have a 1982 collectors edition i had car sitting so i charged up battery started car ran it til it was hot shut car off and when i tried to restart completely dead thought it was start solenoid so replaced it tried again and dead.. was wondering if the oil pressure switch could give this type of a problem ran meter to one tab to ground it showed ground tried between other two and got nothing .. i was reading that this switch could tell computer to shut down ant ideas thanks Paul

Oi pressure switch shuts off fuel pump and will stall engine but not make it electrically dead would still crank

No and the crazy thing is i left charger on it starts with a fresh charge but noticed alt gauge declining never over 12 volts and when i check with a meter at alt can't get a steady reading of 13 or 14 volts i was now wondering if i don't have a good ground on engine block with all the work that was done on this car at one time or another maybe possible i lost some ground potential i'm reaching at this point thought i'd go back to ground under battery in the back of car run a strap to frame and then another at engine to frame ..alternator checked even swapped and battery was checked ..i just have never experienced a good solid reading at alt and ground at engine.....still have my hair in tack but i guess i got to start back to basics any input would help thnx

Check the frame connection for the negative battery cable. Make sure the connection is clean and tight.

Have you checked the computer for error codes?
