I know black is a popular colour but, when it comes to this kind of design, I think other colours show off the curves better!

Absolutely correct, but many of the Stingray styling exercises are so "busy" and overdone that a little color camouflage allows the basic shape to come back into focus. A white Z06 looks like a ricer got hold of it with all the dark body add-ons and geegaws. The aero pieces are real, and functional, but the whole package is somewhat over the top...at least to me.

Good point. I've always preferred aero-parts to be colour matched to the body... although the transparent spoiler at the back needs to remain transparent, I suppose.
