I removed the trans from the car by disconnecting the linkages. I didn't pull it with the shifter intact.I goes into all the other gears good but I have to fight to get it back into reverse. Do I have something bound up or could something be out of alignment with the shifter? I seems like it goes to the left ok but not enough to allow it to go forward.

Thanks

Look under the shifter, there are three slots that have to be aligned. You adjust it with the lenght of the linkage.

You might check to see if your shifter boot is installed correctly if you can't get it to push left far enough. Maybe rotated 180 degrees? Check for other obstructions too.

the shifter (stock) is mounted to the crossmember. (and not the trans)

therefore, it sounds to me like the trans isn't back where it was when it was removed. The trans mount allows side to side adjustment. So if you removed it during disassembly, you may have too left or too right.

I believe that is what happened because it didn't line up like before. It was farther to one side than the other so I had to be pushed over farther. Don't know why. Maybe because I didn't use OEM mounts. I used the energy suspension ones that are shown in your pic. Is there a side to side adjustment or do I have to remount the trans?

Thanks, Jeff

I just eyeballed it so it sat in the center. That mount has a preload plate that fits between the mount and the trans as well.

Also, be sure you have the rod washers on the linkage where the rods mount onto the levers on the trans. (where those clips mount) I didnt on mine when I first installed it and the shifter was sloppy. I ended up removing each lever 1 at a time, reinstalling the washer and clip and reinstalling the levers.

I'm not sure if I remember the clip being on it. You're talking about those weird shaped clips correct? I saw something in the assembly manual showing them being on the other side of shaft linkage. Looked like I had some slop on some of the rods. I'll have to get under there and check it all out. I'm having my exhaust put on today. I'm having 2 1/2" put on. Can't wait to get this project on the road.

Thanks, Jeff
