Anyone know how many aerobody cars (Callaways only, not including regular vettes that may have had the body added) were produced each year. My car has a totally stock body but it would be interesting to know that for a given year, say 1990, how many cars had a stock body and how many had the aerobody.

I wonder how well this is documented? Maybe only Callaway knows...

I saw somewhere, I have a feeling it was a recent post, that 91's were fitted with the aerobody as standard but I'm sure that's not right as I once rode in, and photographed, a turqoise 91 that looked stock except the 2 small hoodscoops.

I would also like to know the answer...

I know Chris just posted that the Deutschman Design site claims over 600 Aerobodies were shipped in the first six years. I find that incredibly hard to believe and quite frankly don't believe it. I think that would be more than the total production of TTs and SuperNaturals during that period.

It would be interesting to see if Callaway does have any records on this.

The AeroBody was not offered as an option until the last half of 1989. Of course those were twin turbo cars and the body was option not a standard. In 1992 the AeroBody was offered as an option on the ZR-1. Very few of those were sold. Probably less than 20. Probably one of the Callaway experts knows more about the exact numbers than I do.

Kevin, I was thinking the same thing although they could mean 600 "components" ?? Since the body is 6 main "components", that would mean 100 bodies - complete. That seems a whole lot more realistic than 600 as that's about one body for every Callaway made for the first 6 years :upthumbs

I agree , Callaway Cars has the exact numbers of the cars shipped w/ bodies ordered -vs- those done later on.
Regardless how or when, it is a design that has stood the test of time :beer

That's the one!!!

photographed by me for a magazine in 1993 sometime so the Callaway was pretty new. Used to belong to tennis pro David Lloyd. I was knocked out by the car at the time and never thought I'd own one.

That's probably the main reason I was interested in looking at the 90 Callaway that I ending up buying.

I presume you got the photos off a website I published a while ago with various Corvettes on it (my 84, my 93, a 66, 67, 91 Callaway).

By the way I never saw that 91 again though people tell me it's still over here. I've also still yet to see a 90 Callaway over here.

If anyone's interested I'll see if I can find some more pics of the 91 to post.

Malc,

Interestingly there were very few with that color. Despite having smashed a finger working around the house (not on the cars), you put me in the mood to post a couple of pics of my turqouise B2K. It might also be on the Deutschman website as it was used as a promotional vehicle for a bit.
