Hello
It has been a while since I have posted on the CAC. I have had a busy summer with a few different items. I changed my mind quite a few times, ended up cutting the frame apart and changing how the front cage bars through the windshield were attached.
I will be setting the body on again in a week or two for (hopefully) my last trial fit.
I have set up some pics on Photo Bucket, so if anyone is interested they can look. I am still trying to figure out how to organize the site and having problems posting some pics, but I am slowly getting there
I thought I should post an update to let you know I had not given up

Wow, heck of a project. Looks like you've made good progress. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Hi! Tom

I thought I took on projects. The work you are doing on the Vette is amazing. Keep the pictures and updates coming!

Hey Tom, good to here from you.

I visited the site, and saw some great pics of your new plumbing. Sad to say that some were a little on the dark side, and were difficult for me to see with my crappy eye-site, but I know what to expect, so I was able to figured it out anyway.

Sorry I can't help out with the " photobucket " thing, because I have never used it myself, so I don't have a clue as to how it works.

I almost gave you a call yesterday, during the drive I took down your way. I helped a friend purchase, and drive back a 65 mustang. Spent exactly 20.5 hours out of 24 on the road during the trip. I was in no shape to visit, or talk shop, so I passed on it until the next trip.

Good luck with the project

Hello
Thank you Ray and Studio Dog . I will post more photos in the next little while and I will make sure the photos are a little better quality
Hello Robert. Sorry we did not get a chance to see each other. I would imagine your trip would of been a little tiring. I just hope you remembered to drive on the right side of the road once you entered Ontario....... (or maybe that could be England I am thinking of, ...?)

Nope, I was on the correct side of the road, but everyone else was driving on the wrong side. Quite tiring having to thread my way through all of them.

;LOL

Tom,

It is always a pleasure to watch your project. You do great work and I cannot wait to see the rolling chassis / body combo. We really do have to set a time when we can come up and get a first hand look at your killer street / track vette!

Take care,
Brian

ps: Bob, too bad you didn't have more time when you were in this neck of the woods. It would have been fun to get together.

holy crap....it has been a while since you sent me early pictures....WOW...is that thing coming along....and the power it will put out with that blower setup...YIKES! keep the pictures coming...and good job!

Herb

Tom,

Great to see your latest update. Having seen much of the chassis progress over the past year or so it's certainly a huge project with a lot of thought going into the design and build. Hope to see it in person next year.

chassis

Hello
Thank you Herb on your comments. I may first use the tunnel ram combo and then the blower, but that is still up in the air at the moment.
Brian, I look forward so you are able to see the car , I may be moving it closer your way in the winter months.

Progress took a couple of steps back with the frame change. I was warned about leg room with the way I had the front cage bars, so changing it opened up a new can of worms. I was unable to access all of the welded areas withthe body on, and even tried a few ways to put the cage in the car as modular units, but there is just not much room to work with
Making the changes was necessary for me to feel good about it, but was depressing and frustrating as well. I do feel happier now that I made the changes and the overall quality will be better in the long run
I ended up splitting the GM floor at the seams so the body can be lifted off with the cage on. The GM floor will go back in again, but I have to make some tranny tunnel mods for the Doug Nash
Rich, I look forward to meeting you in person as well as the other members of the CAC. My biggest problem will be not rushing at the end and skipping some details in order to get it out in time, but looking at other projects and attention to detail helps to keep me in check(I hope)

Thanks for the update, Tom.

I was just south of Beaverton in Heaven on Wednesday, looking for a '67 full-size that I'd heard was for sale.

I forgot you were in Beaverton, so I didn't try to find you. You were probably at work anyway.

By the way, I didn't find the big Chevy.

Well That is quite the project.

For the folks scatching there head on why or how he is going to do this. I just have to say its a labor of love.

For you folks who have been under a welding helmit, you know how hot it gets when your welding. Just imagine he was welding this thing up in the blazing heat we all had this summer (you do remember the heat dont ya tom)

Great job Best of luck with the balance of the project.

Welding

Hello
The heat this summer did not help out much either. Work was even hotter, so it was a draining experience. I hope to be able to take you out in the car for a ride someday Larry. I am pretty sure you will love it
Hello 67. It is too bad that I did not get to meet you. I would of loved to have met you and seen your car in person. I know pics cannot do it justice to take in the whole experience of it. Hearing it and watching it drive up the road would be something else

Tom,

Fantastic work. Can't wait to see the finished project.

Body drop

Hello
I set the body on the frame today and have added pics to the Photo Bucket site if you want to see it.
I had a friend help me out, since it is a little more difficult to get the body on now. I am very happy with the results and have to alter a few things, but I wanted to see how it fit together first. I have never had the front suspension in before, so today I found out if I was close with the my measurements or not
take care
Tired Tommy

Looks fantastic Tom! You must be getting very excited about your progress. Kepp those pics and updates coming.

Brian

Tom,

You sure have given a killer look to that car, now that we can see what it will look like with the body in place. Great pics Tom, keep them coming
Once again great work, makes all the pain and suffering well worth it.:beer

Heh Tom,

Very glad to see your project is still on going. I'm enjoying watching your mock ups...it's always a great feeling when you come up with a better way of doing it over the first fit. I know..I have had many many changes doing my 502 upgrade.

Of course ...not as involved as 67Heaven or Steppinwolf or Larry IHTLOSE..or your project, but still I have mocked it up...then torn it down and mocked it up again. And when it looks right ...you know it!!..

Remember...keep at it..there is no time limit on finishing your project. Just build it the way you see it in your mind. We are all I'm sure enjoying your build. And...I know if we were all closer in miles that I would I'm sure be hanging out at your place on the week ends to lend a hand as I'm sure we all would.

Also in regaurds to Stepinwolfs comment about your photo's... You might try hanging a few single or 4 gang cheap Flouresent lamps over your work area.
You can get plenty of light for work as well as Great Camera lighting requiring no flash.

They are cheap and use very little electricty...

Keep up the great work...

:beer

project

Hello
Thanks very much for your comments. I am very excited with how it looks. I have much still to do, but I am over 2/3 of the way
I still have welding to do, but I wanted a break and what I am doing now is not lost time in mocking up, I still have brackets to weld on and tubing to weld, but I needed the body on for that
I am putting the stock floor back , but it has to be modified to fit(tranny)
Thanks very much for your comments Mark. If people willing to help out are not able to due to location, it is nice to have the support in spirit........just Eskimo's and Bobsledders up here! ..Ha
I look forward to seeing posts on the CAC, a lot of info is available for a variety of areas that I have to deal with yet
take care
Tom
