may sound like a dumb question but this is actually the first car i have actually worked on with a computerso iam in the process of learning the computer end of the car.

i got my 90 at the end of april. had some problems which are just about cleared up. had to replace the ecm and wanted to change the prom too but that is a discontinued item from gm.

the one that's in there now has the code as 4298 ANHT. i have found a place that has proms with the code 4303 ANHU. in a snapon crossreference book. it lists both proms under the 5.7L vin "8" engine. is the second prom i found an updated version of the first and is there any easy way to find out if the second will work in my car?

thanks for any help.

I take it by code 4298 ANHT you mean that's the PARTS number.
The proms you found aren't better, just aftermarket replacement parts that you'll have to program.
Why are you changing the prom? Have you installed mods? Cause once you've disconnected the battery, the codes denoting problems affecting the driveability of your car should be cleared, so why can't you just use your old prom? ;shrug I just asked similiar questions of the CAC gang and what I'm telling you is what they've told me.
Give it a moment or so..., someone else will holla at you.

i can't say much about the actual PROM, but i was surprised at the list of interchanges for the ECU that Hollander provides....

hi the ANHT 4298 is for a 90-auto tranny with the rpo 3.07r rear gear.
--the ANHU 4303 is for a 90-auto tranny with the rpo 2.59r rear gear.
and one will not work in the other ecm the car will not start

both eproms are not made anymore and chevy and ac-delco have not made them for 3 years and you will not find them at all as i have been looking for the ANHT-4298 chip and i have had no luck and cant drive my car

You can use any EPOM so long as it is right for ECM / model and year; in this case a 1227727 .The calibration may be slightly diferent on account of the gears. The manual ones generally have more aggressive spark curves.
Guys who burn chips swap codes all the time.
I run a '89 Vette manual (ARAP ) in my '87 165 ECM.
More than likely the EPROM from a '91 car would work
as they reportedly have have upgrades over the '90 tunes.

The codes are the factory identification of the different tunes fitted to vehicles. For '90 Corvettes there are seven different codes
AUJP ANHT ANHU ANHW ANJA ANJF ARFP

Just get someone like PCM for less to burn you a new one.

prom for 90

Hi thanks do you have there contact info? so i can have them burn a new chip for me i have looked everywhere for someone to do this with out luck but some people tell me to buy the 90-92 mecal from a camaro/firebird but you stated it will not work in a 90-91 vetto thansk for the info

I recalling reading ( but not researched ) that you can use a F-body memcal in a 90 -91 ECM. The Vette looks for a data signal from the CCM allowing the injectors to fire. If you have a CCM problem then your car won't start.

The '730 ECM in the F-bodies is an idential ECM ; just mounted inside the car , not in a weatherproof case under the hood as with the Vette '727.The F-bodies don't have a CCM so there is no requirement for the CCM hookup.
Actual stock tune would be slightly different on account of iron heads on Camaros but would make car run.

I bought a ecm out of a 1990/1991 corvette from a junk yard and it dont work the ecm number is 1227727 and the prom chip # is amas7004 i was told from someone that this chip # was not form a corvette so the junk yard screwed me 185.50 as it will not start my car and when i did get it running a 4/3 light light up on my dash and it also sent a code and now it is sending all these codes with my oem chip back in the New ecm 1227727 that i bought here are the codes

1. c41 h13 h41 --- .4 err 1.0 i dont know what the C and H mean but i do know a code 41 is a cyclinder select error(bad memcal) and a code 13 is a oxygen sensor not ready this car is driving me nuts and i dont no what to do im spending money on this car that i should have have as nothing is fixing it im to the point where im about to turn it in to a carb set up or just part it out

AMAS is 1988-89 2.8 V6 PFI “W” LB6 (“W” body) chip; no wonder you are having problems. As noted above , the 727 weatherproof ECM was used in many applications; just need the correct chip. You need one of the '90 memcals I listed above or from '91 Vette ARYU ;ARYW ;ARYX ;ARYY ;AXCN ; AXCP ;AXCR ;AXCS Even a F-body V8 one would have the right calibration to at least start and run Codes. C is a current fault code. H is history meaning that code has come up in the past but is not current.

HI ok thanks i know the ecm and memcal i just gave you the numbers from is wrong and the junk yard screwed me i have my 1227727 ecm and memcal ANHT-4298 in my car now the one from the junk yard is junk i know that well the memcal is anyway the ecm is a 1227727 as well but i will look for them other memcals thanks
