After thinking about adding cat back pipes for the past few years, I finally had Borla Stingers put on my `97 at Corvettes @ Carlisle last month. Due to the narrow entrance to the lift being used, side mirrors needed to be swung in for clearance. As the technician folded in my driver’s side mirror, there was a loud snap – the spring holding the mirror and mirror base together broke and the top section of the mirror nearly came off in the technician’s hand.

To make a long story short, Borla paid to have a new mirror installed at my local Corvette shop, County Corvette in West Chester, PA. Borla’s representative, George Kovalick, followed up with me immediately and was incredibly responsive. I received a check in the mail the other day for 100% of the replacement cost. Borla also took $150 off the purchase price of the pipes on the spot to apologize for the inconvenience.

Hearing so many stories of poor customer service and companies with an “I don’t care” attitude, it was great to see a company step up and make right. Great customer service and a terrific product makes Borla a class act in my book. The new pipes sound GREAT!

Hey Bro!

Glad to hear they got it fixed for you. I was wondering if the shop had finished your mirror yet. The Stingers sound real great and I wish I could put some on mine. Maybe next year.:beer

Thanks for sharing that great info! Wonderful to hear that they went above and beyond what most shops might have done.

Enjoy the Borlas

It took one day in the shop and $500 to paint and install the new mirror. Having a Corvette specialty shop do the work really put my mind at ease. All of the shops that I checked with claimed that there isn't a way to repair the mirror when the spring breaks, it can only be replaced. But for $500, I can see some people opting for a little epoxy for the repair.

74 Bigblock would have been proud to see us duct taping your mirror back on for the trip home.:L

The Borla guys were so wiped out by the end of the weekend, I can't imaging a worst way to finish the last install of the show. George seemed genuinely sincere when he said yours was the cleanest C5 he had seen all weekend, and it was a shame that the mirror broke when they put it on the lift.

Did you save the old mirror? I still think it would make a great desk lamp.:upthumbs

See you in the fall.

Fortunately, after my mirror was taped back into place, the mirror sock covered everything so the duct tape wasn't visible. Borla had a lot of Vettes to process that weekend and with mine being the only incident, I think they did alright. My C5 is 9 years old and we all know how thing get with age. I didn't save the mirror after all. I told the shop that I wanted to keep it, but we both forgot. All's well that ends well.

See you soon. -M
