I am putting the power steering pump bracket back on the pump and there seems to be something missing. If you hold the pump with the pulley on the right side there is a short bolt that holds the bracket in place there. Now, on the left side there is just a stud, but the bracket is about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch away from the pump. Is there a spacer I am missing? I took the whole thing apart about a year ago and can't remember. Thanks for any help.;help

Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? There may be a stack of washers/spacer between the pump and the bracket.

It could be that your brace is bent. Try as I might I could not get a good shot of the unit installed on the '81 since it is hiding under the alternator. I could see that the slot in the brace was tight against the back of the p/s pump reservoir with no spacer on the stud of any kind between them.

Here is a shot of a new '81 bracket and brace mounted on my truck. I held the pump up to it and could see that it would fit in like a glove. Measuring showed no room for a spacer. I would have set the pump in the bracket but it's grungy and needs to be cleaned up.
