on a 79 vette, the correct water pump is a short pump, right. I am looking at some MARCH billet pully kits. Is there a reason I can't use a long chevy water pump on this car. also any serpentine set-ups that anyone may have used. I am looking for a sepentine set that drives crank (of course) w.p. alt. power steering and A/C (live in florida) I can't seem to find one that runs the A/C.

That's a LOT of $$ to spend for zero benefit (unless the appearance appeals to you); won't gain you any power, and if it's the usual March "underdrive" setup, you'll have idle cooling and charging problems.
