Pumping fuel

I've noticed here lately that when I put gas in my c5 I can't pump the fuel very fast. It shuts off as if the gas tank is full. So I have to pump the gas very slowly and takes quite sometime to fill it up. Any ideas? Is this a common issue?

Only time I've had this issue with my '04 is within the first few weeks that I owned it. I had this issue when I'd put the nozzle all the way in. After a few times of filling, I learned to pull the nozzle out about an inch. I've never had that issue since.

Another thing you can try is...that little latch thing on the handle that keeps the lever pulled up, instead of latching it on the full open spot, latch it on the next spot down, so it's 3/4 flow. That may help with any back splash in the nozzle making it automatically shutting off.
