Hi there,

I found a nice 69 convertible to buy with no engine in it.
How difficult/costly is it to put a crate engine in (including labor since I cannot do it myself)?
Is there anything that would prevent me from putting in a big block even though it was originally a SB car?

Thanks for your advice

im pretty sure that the only difference in putting a small block vs. big block is the motor mounts. if the car was originally a small block, the suspension (front springs) might need some assistance.as far as the transmission goes, i almost positive there isno difference (ive never seen an ad for a 4 sp for small block or th400 for big block) but i would wait to see if some of the more knowledgeable members of the forum chime in. good luck
mike

No problem making the swap, you may need to upgrade your radiator. ater pump, exhaust, and suspension. You will have to buy all new brackets and new pullyes forhe Big Block. Your tranny will still mount up (SB and BB have the same nounts).
