Question: Quantity of SAE 80W-90 Gl-5 gear lubricant

:ughWen changing the Rear Axel limited-Slip lubricant what is the quantity of SAE 80W-90 Gl-5 gear lubricant that I will need to do the job? I know that it takes four ounces of Rear Axel limited Slip lubricant Additive as indicated in the owners Manual.

The amount of rear axle lube depends on what model year and, in the case of a C4, what transmission.

As it turns out both the D36 (auto) and D44 (manual) axles hold 1.5-qt of lube. When you change it, I'd add only two-ounces of friction modifier then road test the car. If the axle is quiet, don't add more. If it squeals in sharp, slow turns, add the other 2-oz.

The 1990 owners manual states on page 315 four ounces. is the Corvette owners manual wrong?
