question about deck lid hinge holes

Hi all,

I just got back from Corvette Carlisle. What a great turnout! I can't imagine how it will be tomorrow (actually I can, which is why I went today lol)-

I have a question- I picked up a deck lid for my '59 today, and noticed that on the right side (passenger side holes), there is an "extra" set of hinge holes next to the original ones (on the inner side to be specific)- I looked at quite a few deck lids today, and noticed some others that had this same "second" set one side.. My question is, is this simply b/c someone needed to move their spring tower? Or was this supposed to connect to something else on the car?

Thanks,

CHEV66JB

If you're talking about the top compartment lid, the extra set of holes is for the actuating arm used with a power top; here's the same thing on my '57:
