Does anybody have dyno results of a fastburn 385?? I was just wondering what it's gonna push at the rear wheels. Mine's in a 76 auto.

Oh, and does anybody have 0-60 and/or 1/4 mile times??

Thanks!

If the GM. numbers are honest, you can probobly figure somewherearound 300-325 at the wheels. Thats about a 15-20% loss through the driveline. That would be my guess.
Keep us posted on your swap. It looks like we might have twins here. What color is your interior? I am looking at doing the same swap. Have'nt decided which crate motor to get though. It's a tossup between the FB385 ZZ4 or the HT383. The HT 383 can be turned into a really bad dude with a set of FB. heads & the Lt4 hot cam. 450hp/460ft.lb torque. Agian keep us posted.

Cool deal! Thanks!

I have red interior. I'm also planning on putting the HOT cam & 1.6 rockers.......although I may go with Crane and similar specs. I'll letcha know how it turns out! :beer

My interior is black, so not identical. I'm very intrested in how yours is gonna run. If you do a cam upgrade you may want to consider going a little higher stall on the converter. (The stock converter on mine is real tight ) It won't want to drag the idle down when in gear & "creep" at stoplights as much.
Have a good one!

Yeah, good look out!! I'll definately have to look into that!!:upthumbs

Anywhere in particular that you heard those specific numbers? I was thinking about that combination, is somebody you know using it?

Thanks

Hot Rod Magazine did a step-by-step build up w/HT383 & FB that yielded similar numbers ... you can find it at their site. Sallee Chevy sells a brand new HT383 w/ FB heads & Hot cam&roller rockers ... already built ... advertized as making about those numbers ... about $5500 if I recall.

How high should I go?? And what came in it from the factory?

I put a FB 385 in my 68 convertible, its a 4 speed car with 3.70 rear a few months back. I am happy with my choice, she runs really good once it gets going. I think its a little slow out of the hole. I am already looking for some more power. I just put in a MSD tech drive distributor with the digital 6 plus box, that woke it up a little bit more. Not sure if the hot cam is the right way to go, it will still have the weak low end problem. I have not had it on a dyno or at the track. I have had some friendly little races, won the all! Well, all but that won to my big brother and his beast of a 70 Chevelle SS. Hope this helps

“500 Lb-Ft In Six Easy Steps
Tuning Up GM’s HT383 Crate Small-Block
By David Freiburger
Photography: David Freiburger, Jim Brown
This time it’s a quest for torque. Luckily, we got horsepower as a bonus. By the time we were done hangin’ a few speed parts off of a brand-new GM Performance Parts HT383 crate engine, it made 500 lb-ft at 4,200 rpm and 460 hp at 5,400 rpm. “

FYI ... The article didn't specify what fuel was used during dyno ... I asked Frieburger ... he replied Union 76 brand 91 octane gasoline.

BTW ... Sallee ZZ450 $5550. http://www.sallee-chevrolet.com/ChevySmallBlockV8s/SalleeZZ450HP.html 450hp@5800/458#@4600. HT383 w/FB heads & Hot cam & rrockers & carb & alum intake. 10.1:1 CR requiring 92 octane.
