Does the SHIFT light in the Heads Up Display tell you when to shift optimally for drag racing or is it there as a safety to tell you that you're just about to hit the limiter?
I know the LS1 hits it's peak power BEFORE the rev limiter so you really should be shifting before the red line.

Is that light good for racing?
Just wondering if anyone uses it at the track.
I will find out soon on my own, just interested in hearing some views from some forum folks.

Good question Glennm27

It's ironic you mention this.

I was just trying to figure a way to install a red light at the pillar moulding just at my left eye.

These cars rev so fast that I find myself in the limiter.

I'd like to make a hole so that just the light shows through.

I don't pay attention to the HUD when I'm full on it. With the red light, my side vision would just catch it.

Anybody done this yet?

Chuck

Hi there,
The shift light in the HUD is programmed for shifts before you hit the rev limiter.
It is NOT for drag racing or anything else.
I have installed Harlan shift lights in many c5, and it is only about a 3 hour job.

I'll bet The Harlan shift light is just what I'm looking for.

Thanks C4C5.
