OK here goes...

What do you call the black plastic piece under the nose? It usually scraps the ground each and every time you hit a bump. What purpose does it serve?

Hope I don't sound like a total moron, but inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks.

That's your front air dam. It's a three piece unit as delivered from the factory; you need it to direct air flow through the radiator.

The Part Numbers Are

10149265 for the center piece and the ends are 10149263 & 10149264 check your local chevy store or seach online MONEY SAVED BY STAYING AWAY FROM CORVETTE SUPPLIERS a leason i have well learned

Like Ken said... It's the Front Air Dam. Do not remove it or you will probably have overheat problems.

If you need replacements, I saw them in the Ekler's catalogue. I think the complete set was $45.

Oh ya, plan on replacing it a few times in the span that you own your corvette. I have had my vette for 7 months and have already had to get a replacement!

Just one of those things!

The 'air dam' is a wear and tear item like the tires. Wear it out and replace it.

If you don't have an air dam on a C4, it will overheat at highway speeds as very little or no air will get to the radiator.

thanks!!! Yes it is a little beat up so a new one it is. Appreciate the info. You guys certainly make life easier. Seems everyone always has the answers I need! Thanks again.

When you replace the air dam, measure the old one for hieght...if you have the w51 suspencion , the air dam is one inch higher
