Hi All,

OK Now I've got the car of my dreams. Here come the questions for all you "Vette Old Timers".

Bought the 2000 C5 this weekend, unfortunately no owners manual (have a bid in on ebay).

How do you reset the memory options? The previous owner must of been very short of stature ( I'm 6'-3").

Why does the remote for the alarm program fine with the 10 second Lock/Unlock buttons but then lose the program after I come back to the car. (I relaced the remote battery as a first attempt at a solution)

Lastly my biggest question/concern. Drove the car out of the dealership at 2:00AM Sunday morning, I wasn't on the freeway 3 minutes when power left the vehicle. It just kept getting slower and slower when I gave it more gas the RPM would come up slightly but no transfer to the wheels. Pulled of the freeway and got to the top of the ramp and everything was fine. Tried it again and same routine. To make a long story short, we finally decided to get a hotel and wait till Monday to take it back to the Doge dealer when I turned off the Active Handling Option, this cured the problem completely. I had asked the people at the dealership if the 20" rims all the way around would cause a problem for the traction control and they did not know of any issues. Nothing came up in my test drive, but no extended high speeds. I had asked the question because of another post on this site about redoing the computer that control the Active Handling with other size tires or rims.
So do I have a problem waiting to bite me or is it just the computer trying to compensate for the 20" wheels?

Thanks in advance for any help you can send my way.
Rob

Hi Rob,
Welcome and congrats on your vette. That MY/black is a beautiful color/combo.

To reset the memory on your car simply:

1) Set your outside rear view mirrors, radio stations, A/C, and seats the way you want them.

2) Hold down the number (1) on the little pad on your drivers' side. It will blink. When it stops blinking you are done. Repeat for the number (2) pad if you want to set the memory for another driver. (I've got mine set for my wife, although she rarely wants to drive my vette).
You can also set the memory for a third person by holding down both #1 and #2 buttons together til they stop blinking.

Sorry I can't help you with your other problem. Hopefully you have solved it by now.

Keep us posted.

Good luck and enjoy that beauty.

Regards,

Pedro

aloha,
welcome to the forum,do you have any pictures of the rims(on the car) im going to get either 19s or 20s all around.i will be using the new Falken ultra-low profile tires so the overall tire highth wont be to much different.my guess would be the tire size is affecting the active handling.you can probably do something with programming, but i dont know if this would completely cure your problem, theres a very knowledgable tech advisor here(c4/c5 specalist),maybe he will read this and chime in with his advise,do you have any codes?dont know if youve had the car long enough to know how to pull them.;shrug i had the same problem with my key-fobs,i told the dealer the deal is not done until this issue is solved, sure enough the car needed a new module, somewere near gas cap,i think the part was $900.there will be a code for that too.im at work and dont have time to type the procedure to pull codes.good luck,Todd.
