Okay, so I've gotten one side of the body mounts removed and replaced. (Not me personally, I have to gratefully thank my body shop for obliging to do this for me). Well, to my dismay, what I was expecting to happen did not. I thought that it would line my doors up alot better than they did. I tool a couple of pictures of it so maybe you guys can give me some advice on fixing the problem.

Watch out, these pictures are big!

Do I need to shim up the back, the front or what? This is really a pet peeve of mine, and I'd like to get this resolved once and for all. HELP!!!!!

Door Alignment

Man those doors are way off!

I just replaced my spring and hinge bushings on a 78.
My drivers side door was sagging.
After I put the new bushings in and spring I matched up the door pretty much where it was before and closed it carefully...then from the inside I tightened up a couple of bolts on the top and bottom hinge (on the inside of door)-opened the door to see if it was ok and closed it etc.. also keep an eye on the top rear corner of the window so it clears the body correctly.

On yours, if the hinges were removed completley and shims changed it will be much more difficult. It's definitely a two man job to hold and adjust the door at the same time.
Good luck

There are bolts inside the car for the upper and lower hinges. You should be able to loosen them off and straighten the door. Use two strong friends to lift the back of the door.

-do like Price & Wilkins advise, but also first using a 1/4"-star wrench, remove the door-latch striker-bolt entirely (not just loosen, that's no good), as it will just interfere with the struggle to make proper alignment; --then when you get everything just so, look to see if the roller on your striker-bolt is at all loose, as that will prevent proper aft-door closure; --replacing mine from an old donor Cadillac's back-door (little used) brought Vette's-door in precisely 3/16"... dukvet, need more pics. rear door jam, side shot showing entire door, door closed, door almost closed, entire side of car.

Some of those pics are hard to determine what it needs.first things first, replace you pins and bushings, then see what it needs. If it is sunk in it needs shims on the part of the hinge that is bolted to the main body. They are a pain to get to .You have to remove the kick panel..There arent any adjustments to the part on the door.:beer If you need any more help pm me ,ive done this alot.

Too bad you're not in Ft. Lauderdale; I could use some expert help myself!
