There are two shows I've really wanted to go back to since last year. It's now VERY "iffy" on whether or not my car will be really and out of the paint shop by than (next weekend). If by chance my car gets done and I can pick it up it would probably be Fri. afternoon rolling the car out of the shop and than the shows are on Sat. and Sun.

With the painting being as fresh as it will be, do you think there would be any harm than in having the car sit out all day in the sun so soon after she is completed or am I safer to skip these two shows even if the car does get ready in time and just let the car sit and the paint settle in more before having it "bake" at a show all day?

I'd quit creating deadlines for making any shows and just focus on putting it back together right, piece by piece, without hurrying anything or getting frustrated - just do it right the first time, and when it's ready to show, you'll be happy. :)

Rushing a painter and the paint job is a recipe for disaster. My painter will not let me have a car till 2 full days after it has been painted. I rushed the painter who painted my 911 cabriolet and to this day there are 2 spots that have bothered me. He would not fix it because I was the thorn in his side that caused it. I understand what he means.

THere are always other shows.

just my opinion. oWEN

I fully agree with both of you and I'm definately not pushing him for these shows even though I would have liked to have gone. He seemed to think the car would be done barring any reassembly issues.
I just wanted to know that IF the car was done that having it sit outside like that afterwards would be safe or not with the paint as fresh as it would be. Chances are it won't be ready anyway.

I was rushing to get a Camaro done for a show one time and had my family helping. My sister was helping me with the windshield wiper arms. To make a long story short, we totally screwed up the paint job on the cowl due to not being careful. Bad stuff always seems to happen when you're hurried and frantic.

Make plans after you get the car back, consider all shows a loss until you get the car back. DON'T PUT PRESSURE on the painter....and don't put pressure on yourself. Its soup when it's done and not before.

Out side in the sun is the best thing you could do for it. But do not rush the job. Let your painter do things his way and when its done its done. I tell customers all the time I won't rush the job just to make them happy. I only want to do it once.

Don't push for what you want because you won't get it, good things come to those that have patience.

some idiot out there will have to touch or run his hand down the paint job.
Take it home, enjoy it and keep family and friends at bay.

I'm not pushing anything and not rushing the painter.

just wanted to know that IF the car got done would it be safe in the sun that soon after painting.

As I said, it probably won't be done anyway

Think about a factory paint job on a C-6. It is painted and can be driven home that day. If your painter gets it done, then by the time you've put it back together it should be ready to drive & enjoy.

If your painter has a proper booth and oven then the paint should be nice and hard. If not then I would give it a couple days.

Thank you vintage

OK, what happened to all that maintenance you were going to perform before driving it? Sounds like a busy Friday night getting a car that's been idle for over 7 months ready for action by the next morning. Slow down Barry. There have been enough unfortunate incidents in your brief history with this car.
