If I got a new c7 are there lots of race courses like ROAD ATLANTA that I could pay a fee to run the new C7 around on? Are there any races I, as an amateur, could enter on any of these race tracks?

Why don't you start with a high performance driving weekend at a track. Most tracks host them, even if they don't actually run them. The Corvette Museum Track is holding HPD events, maybe a good place to start. Actually street car racing at big tracks don't really happen anymore for obvious reasons. I did a guest track day a couple of weeks ago at VIR, and it was a rush, but I don't think I'd like to really race my stock Stingray at a fast track with 150 mph potential straight speeds followed by a horseshoe turn. But that's just me.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll start with a professsional driving course. Doesn't GM pay for part of a course when U buy a new C7, especially a ZO 6?

They paid most of the Ron Fellows basic course for the 2014. I imagine the new ones would qualify too. You pay $1 grand for the course, and GM picks up $1,500. You pay transportation and most of the lodging, as I remember. Call Ron Fellows for details. They are very helpful.

So where could I get a list of all the tracks in the U.S. that either sponsor HPDE days or are open to run on by appointment?

I haven't seen a single source. Look for ads in AutoWeek, Google or call tracks.
