We all know that heat kills, engines that is. I'm running hot (210 to 215) at highway speeds and have done all the standard stuff...new sending unit, measured resistance on the leads, IR'ed the thermostat etc. Car is 180 in town in traffic. Now, I am considering replacing the radiator with a Dewitt high performance aluminum tube type. Before I spend the 800 bucks is there anyone who wants to chime in here. John Z who I greatly respect says do it- the question is with the direct fit or the high end, absolutely correct and drop in DeWitt resto.

I have recored the original brass rad in my 66bb car twice in 15 years - and it was never good with A-C on - but marginal for the first year or two after a recore.

Last winter I dropped a Dewitt direct fit aluminum in it = not correct but a huge improvement. Two months ago I pulled the Dewitt and replaced it with a Griffin (from Tom Dewitt) that should at least give me a 10% improvement in city traffic with A-C running.

Bottom line - if you intend to drive the car a lot and you are tired of looking at the temp guage instead of the scenery (includes the female in the passenger seat) - IMO go for all the radiator that you can stuff into the hole.
