Hello all. well my correct shroud extension showed up today. the question is; what is the correct type of fastner used to connect it to the main shroud?
thanks in advance

Robin

I just did the front suspension on my 75, I had to remove the extension and slightly move the main shroud.on mine there were the little bolts that somehow clamp onto the inside of the shroud extension, then you put the screw in through the main shroud to fasten the too together. dont know for sure what size of bolt,(maybe 1/8 in.just a guess?), but it was about 1in long, maybe 1 1/4 in long. There was 1 at top, 1 at the 10 oclock and 2 oclock and 1 at each the 8 and 4 oclock position, there might be one at the very bottom?, not sure? (maybe thats where this extra bolt goes?lol) hope this helps.

thanks Chuck. know to use bolts is what i needed. wasn't sure if bolts of rivets

Robin

Hmmm, rivits?, I didnt even think about using them. they would be much easier to install, but if ya ever have to remove them -what a pain that would be-.I guess thats why they put bolts in there, have you ever tried to remove the shroud?, I only had to move it a inch and what a pain. when I upgrade to a aluminum rad. and elec fan Ill just cut mine out. and save all the 4 letter words for other projects.lol. save the wave. bye

Chuck, i went with an aluminum rivet. they will be easy to drill or cut off if necessary. i used a 3/16 dia. with a large head. gives a nice smooth look.
if i ever go to electric fans i will be pulling the radiator to fabricate the mounts. i find it more comfortable to work on a workstand then all hunched over
also found a nice place under my Monza headlight mounts to relocate the extra tranny cooler. will post pictures when i finally get everything plumb

Robin

So ya went with the rivets?, cool, yes Im interested in seeing pics when you get yr trans cooler mounted.Ive been trying to figure out where one would fit,and how to mount it. also tell me how to post pics? Ive just finished my Ft suspension and it really came out great.

ROBIN:
If you ever need a picture of something off another early `74 - -just let me know and I'll e-mail it to you - - Lyn got a new Sony camera for her real estate biz and it does detail pretty well.

Rain and 44 in Scottsdale this morning - - - If I liked this kind of weather, I would have stayed in OHIO !

Regards-

Rollie, you'll always be a great friend. thank you for the offer. maybe you should keep your 74 just so i can have a refence car. give that excuse to lyn when you want to buy that ragtop!
