I have an 86 with the Std. Bose Stereo and cassette system.
My reception seems very weak compared to my other cars. Could it be poor cable connection at the power antenna or at the Radio ? If so, how do you get to them ?
Thanks,
John

Do what everyone does and replace that Bose with an aftermarket system! :L:L:L

Seriously, I don't know the answer to your question but at least you get a bump.

I have the same problem with my 89.
I installed a "ground plane" from mamw, and replaced the antennae. It helped a little.
I live in the eastern PA mountains, my el cheapo Jeep radio gets more stations than the Vette.
I believe it's due to the non-metal body. haven't found a solution yet.
LOL

I live in hilly country in southern NY state and have the same poor reception problem at times with my after market radio. Of course having the top down doesn't help being able to hear the radio either, but I never thought about the non-metal body being a factor. Thanks for the info.

Actually, my antenna mast quit working this year. I have not got around to fixing it yet. It still pulls all the stations around here when it is down. Switching to an aftermarket stereo would improve performance, but the reception would still be the same. It seems normal that the car not bieng metal would have something to do with it, but I am not sure about that. Hell look at these little radios they sell now, most get decent reception, and they are small and plastic. Seems like we almost need a CB type antena. You guys have seen them, they are to tall sure, but notice the coil of wire at the bottom, this effectively lenghtens the antenna, and gets better reception. If somebody came up with an antenna that was stock height, and put a coil of wire at the bottom under the glass that equaled a foot in length, we would be set.
