Rain keeps leaking into my 74 corvette somewhere. I'm not sure where though. I have the interior out to replace it. I want to get this fixed before I lay in the new carpet. It rained last night and my drivers floor pan had standing water. It appears to be leaking in on the left side under the dash. Could this be running down the A pillar? The t top weatherstripping needs replaced, but it doesn't seem to be coming from there. The outside wall under the dash is damp. Could it be the A pillar to window seal? Anybody experience this before? The rest of the car seems dry.

Gotta hate water leaks

I have an 81 that leaked badly....chased it for a long time. I tore out my interior as well and then the dash...wow what a job. Replaced the windshield and it stopped. I checked it with a hose and ran water over different areas before finding it running down the pillar and into the car. Hope this helps.

Check around the windshield...take a couple of cups of water,
and pour them around the windshield,and windows
also look by the body bolt in front of the door where it comes out by your foot.
Good Luck!!!!

With all the interior out and a large rain storm yesterday, I was able to track down the source....kind of. It appears to be coming in where the air vent is on the drivers side. With the kicker panel off by your left foot, there is a piece of rubber that covers this side vent. Any ideas what is making it come in here?

Possibly the sealer between the birdcage and the cowl has dried and cracked. Or there may be something at the point where the birdcage transitions from the windshield frame to the structure for the dorr pillar. Either way, you need to track it down and get it fixed. Water and the steel of the birdcage are not friendly.
Figure the water is coming from above where ever it shows itself, and may travel along anything= a seam perhaps- and then drip off and puddle several inches from the entry point.

Water is collecting in the bottom of the fender and backing up through the vent. There should be a drain hole on the back side of the fender in that area. Use a screw driver or similar to unclog the drain.

Note square drain hole. Easy to see here because the fender is not in the way.

Truth be told, there's a 6" ratchet extension down there in my '68. It disappeared down the cowl a long time ago. I heard it hit bottom.

Do I get to the drain from under the car, or through the vent inside the car?

Cool visual Mike!!!!!
Thanks.:cool!::cool!:

Well it turns out it was leaking somewhere under the hood under the window. I bought a can of flexseal. I actually got the knock off dupont stuff. I sprayed a whole can of it in the area under the hood that catches the water as it runs down the windshield. I then smoothed it out with a paint brush. It looked pretty good after it dried. I waited about 2 weeks for it to downpoor and no more leaks!!!.
