raise tire pressure for track?

With my Subaru, the general consensus is to raise tire pressure to about 40-44 PSI for track running to increase handling and response. Is there a similar suggested pressure for Vettes? If it makes any difference, I've got 17" wheels.

Any other temporary modifications I should look at doing?

Thanks.

When I was running on Willow Springs track with the Guldstrand group, Dick had me raise the air pressure slightly to around 40-45# if I remember correctly. :confused

For autocrossing, the guys there recommended 33-34 in front, 30 in back. They said the high pressure makes the tire too hard and it will slip.

YIKE---------------do not use those low pressures if you are running laps at a road race course like a Mid-Ohio , Watkins Glen, Road Atlanta etc---------------go with the higher pressures mentioned in the first reply------you want a strong bead-----lower pressures for autocrossing because you do not get same heat build-up and lower pressures will assist in lower times(maybe).
