I bought a '96 CE. I have had it about 2 months and just getting to learn the car. Please forgive my ignorance but I was formerly a C3 person, but to tell you the truth I like this car much more than my '71 LS5, but that is another story.

Under the hood is a badge that says that the car was service by the vette doctors at Ramp chevrolet, or something to that effect. While looking under the hood on the ECM there is a sticker that looks like it isnt from the factory. There are 2 lines to this sticker. It says the following:

Vin # 1g1yy32p7tXXXXXXX
Shift/80%/700/190/etc
RMP

It has an SLP cold Air induction on it. The one with the 3 K&N airfilters on it. The car pullsreally well with alot of power, I am not sure if this is normal as this is my first C4. I dont know how quick it is asI havent taken it to the track. The transmission shifts real quick, sort of like it has a shift kit in it. I dont know if that is normal either.

Any input especially from those member of the forum from LI would be greatly appreciated

It sounds to me like it does have a shift kit installed, and that the computer was reprogrammed. You might contact SLP to see if there's a record of it, which most likely there is. ;)

One has to wonder if it idles at 700 and turns on the fans at 190.

With respect to the other vett owners sorry.
In 1994 to 1997 you do not have a chip in your computer it is a 512 mh under the hood that you program just like you do your home computer.
You could have a shift kit but I don't think so .
The trans is programed to shift when you set the computer to shift it.
You can program everything you want the engine trans and rear gearing that you chose, you just need to invest in a lap top and tuner cats and data master and the car will do what you want ,if you are a good programmer.
The car turns around 13.70 or so.
It looks like someone programmed your computer to 80% of the high shift points and temp to 190 deg and a 700 rpm idle.
