Anyone know where to get a good set of ramps to work under my '64?

If you are looking for ramps to drive up onto (no power lift) - the only good ones I have heard of are 6 feet long - to allow gradual ramp up. I have not seen any.

I put the front wheels of my car on a set of cheap ramps from Kmart by jacking both sides evenly with hydraulic jacks. IMO the ramps offer better footing - especially if you intend to start the car while it is in the air. I also have 4 jackstands that I top off with rubberized plastic covers/protectors from the Griot's Garage Catalog. Even my hyraulig jacks have rubber holding surfaces to prevent slipping and protect the paint. IMO it's cheap insurance.

IMO some of the car length power ramps are good - but expensive - and they make some operations cumbersome.

Thanks Magic, I am looking for drive up types. I never thought of jacking then sliding a ramp under. I do intend to start the engine.
I'll look for a set at wal-mart or k-mart.

I can't get the jack under mine, so I made these to backup onto. Then I can jack it up and onto the jackstands.
I have one for each side then jack from the center under the frame.

This is why I love this site. Everybody has ideas I never think of, thanks.:CAC

Don't know if these are any good. They're a bit pricey, but they LOOK nice...

I don't know how I would live without my Rinos. $29 at Pep Boys.

For spending hours on your back under the car, I decided to build these. The ramps are 6 ft long to get the car up on the 12" tall blocks. The center sections remove for access. Took about a day and $50 or so of lumber.

Berky, very nice set up. Looks good for cleaning and polishing those hard to reach areas on the exhaust and suspension.

Maintenance too.

Jeff

More good info, thanks. And Berky, a very nice job on your home made ramps.
