RE: 1986 U-JOINT Replacement

OK. I'm in trouble!
I removed the half shafts, replaced the U-Joints and now I can't get them back in.
Four hours in the driveway @ 92* and I can only get close.
There must be a soultion. and the 'book' dosent help.
Any information would be helpful.
please reply.

Do you ahve the tie rod disconnected as well as the spring and sway bar.

Then it's easier to have someone lower and raise the knuckle as you fit the shaft in place, if by yourself use a jack under it and go slow.

Mart

Yeah, that sounds like the way to do it.

No, nothing is disconnected as yet.
I was in fear of screwing something up.

HA, I actually thought this was going to be easy.
everything is ready to go. they just won't drop in.
only need a 1/4 inch or less to clear.
don't have the room to pry on anything.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a shot.

Try removing just the sway bar end, the shock, and the spring, that might give enough without having to remove the tie rod.Mart

I want to thank you guys for the information provided.
after dropping the spring, sway bar, stableizer & shock.
That joint fell right into place.
The driver side should go well, Now that I know the 'trick'
It's 92* at 10:00 am here. the sun is brutal and one of my wrenches melted into the drive way. SO think i'll hold off for a while reconnecting the suspension stuff.
Thanks Again. whish I could buy everyone a cold beer.
Mike

No problem Mike, Just hurry up and put it back together, and go for a drive to Toronto.

I'll be waitin on the Patio with a cold one, :beer
