I've enjoyed my 2003 coupe for a little over a month, equipped with Magnetic Selective Ride Control and six-speed manual. Upon delilvery, I immediately replaced the stock Goodyear runflats with Michelin Pilot A/S ZP tires. I had Gooyear F1 GS rubber on a Camaro Z28 and they were very noisy and dangerous in rain. I'm very pleased with the Pilots.
Since this is my first Corvette, I'm unable to make any comparison to other suspension options or previous model years. The roads in Maine are typically cracked, heaved, undulating, severely crowned and potholed. In short they are a severe test for high performance sport suspensions. However, I have found the ride to be very comfortable, surprisingly smooth and rock stable. Unfortunately, I've hit a couple of potholes and the suspension responded well. Overall it is far superior to the ride quality of my 1996 Camoro Z28 and is every bit as comforatble as some sports sedans I've driven, including the BMW 330ci.
I thought the MR fluid in the shocks might be adversely affected by cold temperatures, but have experienced no problems in temperatures down to 4 degrees.
Anyone looking for optimal balance and performance on "real world" roads should absolutely get this great option.
